environplasma recycling facilities set industry standards. They relegate many problems in the management and recycling problems to the past.
By combining mechanical and thermal processing techniques the environplasma facilities offer an ideal processing chain for the recycling
of composites consisting of metal and plastic.
The main component is the two-stage gasifier. In the first stage, the solid waste materials are gasified, metals are sintered and residual materials and heavy metals are vitrified into an inert non-leachable slag. The slag can be used and processed in many ways.
In the second stage, the fuel gas generated in the gasifying step flows through a high temperature area, which is heated by a plasma generator. An irreversible separation of contaminants takes place in this heating step. Subsequently, the fuel gas is allowed to cool down. It is then cleaned and converted to electricity.
Mechanical recycling equipment complements the thermal processing facility. The applied procedures are based on state of the art mechanical processing technologies. The entire complex recycling facility is capable
of separating metals, plastic materials and contaminants. Its technical configuration makes it the first and so far the only facility of its kind in Europe. The facility therefore sets the standards for the environmentally appropriate way of extracting raw materials and energy from waste.
